Returning players will be placed on the same team they played with the year before, unless they request otherwise, unless that roster is already full. New players will be assigned to teams based on available space or requests made by player/parent. We will try hard to honor all requests, however there is no guarantee that requests can be met. If there is more than one team in an age group, and they play at differing competitive levels, that may be factored into player placement. All players who register will be placed on an age appropriate roster until maximum roster numbers are met. Maximum roster sizes are 14 at U11, and 18 at U12 through U18. Minimum roster sizes are 9 at U11, and 11 at U12 through U18. Coaches are not allowed to select players for their team. Based on these policies, the AYSA NW Rec Director will make final decisions on player placement.
How are coaches assigned to a team?
If you are interested in coaching a team, register online and you will be contacted by the AYSA Director of Recreational Soccer. Coaching assignments will be made at the discretion of the AYSA NW Director of Recreational Soccer, who may request additional information from applicants.
How are the teams placed in the league?
The AYSA NW Rec Director will work with the REC coaches to determine the appropriate level of play for REC teams. Final decisions on league placement will be made by the AYSA NW Rec Director and the AYSA NW Board.
How can I apply for a scholarship for my child?
Player scholarships will be considered on a case-by-case basis based on a demonstrated financial need. It is the goal of AYSA to provide access to our programs to eligible players regardless of financial means. Requests must be made by the parent/player. For additional information see the AYSA Scholarship Program page. Scholarship requests are due by July 1, 2015. Upon approval, directions will be given on how to proceed with registration.
How can I register my child?
Online registration for the AYSA Fall Recreational (REC) soccer season (U11-U18) is now open. Online registration may be closed for any age group when team rosters have been filled without notice. The fees for 2015 - 2016 are $160.00. If you register before May 31, 2015 you will recieve a $10 discount for registering early. Fees include a uniform kit (jersey, shorts & socks). Player registrations after the deadline and before the start of the season will only be accepted on a space availability basis on an age appropriate team. Player registration does not guarantee assignment to a team roster. AYSA will attempt to assign every player who completed the registration process to teams during the months of July and August. If your player is not assigned to a roster for any reason, AYSA will promptly refund all paid fees associated with registration for that season.
If I register my child and then he/she withdraws from the program, can I get a refund?
The Registrar must be notified if a player withdraws from the program for any reason. 80% of the registration fee will be refunded if notice is submitted before the 1st practice. 50% of the registration fee will be refunded up until the 1st league game. There are no refunds given after the 1st league game is played.
